誕生日の山登り！Mountain Climbing for My Birthday!

Today is my birthday! I wanted to do something special for my birthday, so I decided to go mountain climbing! Since I only had a few hours in the morning before work, I wanted to choose a mountain that does not take very long to climb, but has a beautiful view from the top. Of course, I chose Mt. Iino in Marugame City!
今日は私の誕生日です！誕生日なので何か特別なアクティビティをしたいと思って、ハイキングに行こう！と決めました。仕事を始める前に午前の数時間しかなかったので、登るにはそんなに時間がかからないが、頂上から美しい景色が見える山にしたかったです。もちろん、丸亀市の飯野山を選びました！

Mt. Iino is often affectionately called “Sanuki Fuji” and “Rice Ball Mountain”, thanks to its beautiful triangular shape. Along with udon and olives, Mt. Iino has become a symbol of Kagawa Prefecture.
飯野山は三角のような綺麗な形があり、「讃岐富士」や「おむすび山」というような愛称で呼ばれています。うどんやオリーブを並びに、飯野山は香川県の代表的なシンボルでもあります。

Actually, I can see Mt. Iino from my house! A little bit of it anyways!
実は私の家から飯野山が見えますよ！ほんの少しだけですけどね！

I packed my bag, made some hot coffee to drink at the top of the mountain, and started climbing around nine o’clock in the morning.
リュックの準備をして、頂上で飲むための温かいコーヒーを作っておいて、午前9時ぐらい飯野山に登り始めました。

At first, the trail is not that steep and quite easy to climb. 20 years ago, I might have even tried running up the mountain on such a flat, smooth trail! 
最初は山道はそんなに険しくないし、とても登りやすいです。20年前の私だったら、こんな平らな山道を走ってみるかもしれません！

After climbing for a little bit, I began to see glimpses of the beautiful view between the trees. 
少し登ったら、森の木の間から美しい景色がちらりと見えてきました。

After climbing about half way up the mountain however, the trail became steeper, and a bit more of a challenge to climb!
途中で山道が険しくなって、少しは難易度が高くなりました！

The trail may have become more difficult, but as I continued climbing, I could see more and more of the view.
山道は難しくなったが、登るにつれて、景色がだんだん見えてきました。

I finally made it to the top! It only took about 45 minutes to get to the top, but the view was truly breathtaking!
ようやく、頂上にたどり着きました！頂上に着くには45分ぐらいしかかからなかったが、景色が息をのむほど美しかったです！

At the top of Mt. Iino, you will find this short path that you can follow to see “The Footprint of Ojomo”.
飯野山の頂上に短い山道があり、それを歩くと「おじょもの足跡」が見えます。

Legend has it that a giant named Ojomo, who was very good at making mountains, got a little tired when he crossed the ocean and accidently flipped over the baskets he was balancing on his shoulders, resulting in two oddly shaped mountains. Mt. Iino, on the other hand, was created when he managed to carefully move his baskets from one place to another, which explains why the mountain is shaped so perfectly. 
伝説によりますと、おじょもは山を造ることが得意でしたが、海を渡った長旅の疲れのせいで肩に担いだふごをひっくり返して、形がそんなに綺麗ではない山の二つができました。おじょもが丁寧にふごを移してできたのは形が綺麗な飯野山だったそうです。

Actually, very close to Tomoni English there is a traditional Japanese sweet shop where you can buy “Legend of Ojomo”, a special kind of manju. “Legend of Ojomo” was especially delicious after climbing to the top of Mt. Iino!
実は、Tomoni Englishのすぐ近くに[「きさらぎ」という和菓子屋さんがあり、そこで「おじょも伝説」という特別な饅頭が買えます。飯野山を登った後で食べた「おじょも伝説」は特に美味しかったですよ！
